A cidade de Rio Branco enfrentou um sério problema nos meses de março e abril - a alagação. Diversos bairros foram atingidos e seus moradores foram removidos pela prefeitura para o parque de exposições da cidade.
Muitas instituições participaram do esforço para minimizar os efeitos da situação em que estes cidadãos, fora de seus domicílios, tiveram que enfrentar. Vejam em matéria da imprensa local como o poder público adotou medidas paliativas voltadas aos moradores atingidos pelo alagamento.
A Fundação Municipal de Cultura Garibaldi Brasil colaborou durante todo o período em que durou esta condição, levando o Projeto Brincando como antigamente ao parque de exposições como forma de garantir diversão com educação aos pequeninos desabrigados. O atendimento às crianças aconteceu todos os dias, pela manhã (8h-11h.) e à tarde (14h-17h.) e também nos finais de semana.
